SCUBA TRAINING CENTER has been in the business in the Amarillo for over 20 years. STC began its life as a PADI facility, and in the late 1990's became an SSI facility. Since that time, the numbers of certified divers and those continuing their education has continued to grow. Through the years and through several different owners, the intent of the store has never changed:

We strive to make this facility meet all of your diving needs - from trips (almost) every month, to a flexible training schedule that lets you set the pace - we will do whatever it takes to make you diving a safe and comfortable activity for the entire family.
We offer all levels of training. If you just want to see what it is like to breathe with a regulator in your mouth, or if you are ready to become a dive professional, we can get you there. TRY SCUBA
This is an opportunity for you to get into the equipment and see what it is like to breathe under water. We will take you to the pool, get you set up, get you in the equipment, and let you try it out. This is just a fun opportunity for you to see if diving is the sport for you. Any curiosities or concerns you have can be satisfied with this 2 hour session. if you sign up for your Open Water Certification within 60 days, the price of the Try Scuba will be discounted from your Open Water Certification.
SCUBA SKILLS UPDATE
Once you are a certified diver, it is for life. However, we strongly recommend that is you have not been in the water for over a year, you come in for an Update. This is one pool session that will help you refresh your memory on gear assembly, mask skills, emergency procedures, and disassembly. If it has been a while since you have been in the water, let us help you maintain your diving skills and knowledge.
OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION
So you are ready to be a diver. YEA!! What now? Open Water Certfication is the first step. In 2 classroom sessions and 4-5 pool sessions (depending on your comfort level), you will be a certified diver ready to take on the world!! After you turn in your homework and take the test (I hear the groans already! It isn't bad. I promise!) you will need to do your Open Water Check-Out Dives. That means that you have to perform the skills you learned in the pool in Open Water. Then you will be certified!!
OPEN WATER DIVES
You have several options for your Open Water. Ideally, we can all go to Cozumel
or Belize and finish your certification there. But that isn't for
everyone, there are some other options.
LOCAL DIVE
Okay, so local is a relative term when you live in the Texas Panhandle.
In the past, we have gone to Balmorhea State Park, Athens Scuba Park, Blue Hole
in Santa Rosa, New Mexico and the Stilling Basin below Lake Meredith. The time
of year and the specialties being offered that month that month will determine where
we go for Open Water. Requests welcome.
MINI VACATION
STC is going HERE at the of the month and you would like to go and
finish your dives in salt water. As long as there are enough people going so that
the instructor goes for free, then it is the same price as a local dive. The difference
comes in if there isn't enough divers going with the shop. Usually this isn't
a problem, you just need to be aware of the fact that
it could become an issue.
TAKE YOUR INSTRUCTOR WITH YOU ON YOUR VACATION
You already have a trip planned, and would like your instructor to finish your
certification at your destination. No Problem!! You will have to cover all the instructor's
expenses from the time you leave until the time you come back. All other standard
certification fees still apply. Any of us would be happy to go!!
UNIVERSAL REFERRAL PROGRAM
This was a program started to give you some flexibility and options when
you travel for finishing your certification. STC will finish all of your pool work and
set you up with an instructor at your destination. You will do your check-out dives
with them. They will then fill out their part of the papework, which you will bring back
to us and we will file your certification card through STC.
ADVANCED OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION
Once you become an Open Water Diver, you can advance you knowledge and experience by becoming an Advanced Open Water Diver. This involves 4 specialty ratings and a minimum of 24 dives. Through the specialties offered each month you can receive the Advanced rating in as little as 2 months. If you are not interested in the specialties being offered for a particular month, substitutions can be made. *You can choose any 4 specialties that we offer except Stress & Rescue and Search & Recovery.
